My creative endeavors have shifted, not ended after the recent perishing of my Olympus TG6. I’m shooting more topside (the slightly disrespectful term used by underwater photographers for land-based photography) again. My old Canon 5DII still works well, when combined with the right lens and strobe. I’m quite happy with the shot of this gecko which lives in our kitchen:
This is a project I’m very excited about: together with ace paleoartist Alice Turner I’m planning a documentary about whales and all the animals which have lived in their ecological niche in the history of life on Earth:
And: Sensei James D. Reimer and myself are working hard on this new book which will explain environmental problems in the form of dive briefings. Coming out soon with Asian Geographic.
I’m also still releasing footage which I filmed before the untimely demise of the TG6 (which I will replace with another TG6, a brilliant camera). Check out this video of sea slugs and octopi, mostly filmed at night right in front of our home on Negros Island in the Philippines:
