Catfish Blues Versus Catfish Catfish Blues
My mate Paul played the Catfish Blues lately. I added a video with some catfish. Pretty good Blues, pretty good Catfish:
I’ll give Paul’s performance a 10.9 out of 11 in terms of the Blues, and my catfish video a 1/4100 (there is 1 catfish species out of ~ 4100 species of the order Siluriformes in the video, Plotosus lineatus).
How Does It Compare?
We now need to find out how Paul did in comparison with the all time greats of the Blues, and how my video did. First contestant: the late great Jimi Hendrix:
How do I score Jimi Hendrix in competition with Paul? Well, it’s hard to score Jimi Hendrix low when it comes to any kind of Blues, or music, really. The guitar shredding starting around 3:40 is certainly sic. But, I already gave PaulĀ a 10.9/11, so there is not so much room for raising the score higher. The score for the video? It’s a still photograph. And, not a single catfish. Need I say more?
Next in line up against Paul and myself: The all time great Muddy Waters.
Pretty good Catfish Blues, though not as energetic as Jimi’s. This was a different time. As for the video: Again, not one catfish.
Finally, the Blues icon Taj Mahal gets a go:
Music: awesome. Strong rhythm. Can it compete with Paul? You be the judge.
Video: Artsy photos of Mr. Mahal, and of some very pretty women. But, what’s missing AGAIN are the catfish. Is this so difficult to film catfish? It seems all these dudes weren’t even trying. Did Paul and I make Blues history? Our Catfish Catfish Blues certainly seems to be a first.
