Freshwater Gobies in the Philippines
I am happy to announce that an article of mine will again be featured in the well known AMAZONAS magazine (in the issue published in August):

The topic … gobies of course. But this time it’s freshwater gobies, which I photographed and filmed in the creeks of Valencia, on Negros Island in the Philippines. This is a fascinating fauna, with the larvae spending significant time in the ocean, and the juveniles migrating back up rivers. The details of this life history are in my AMAZONAS article.

Over the last years I have also gotten quite a few quality photographs of these freshwater fishes. It’s not trivial to shoot these guys: small, fast, shy, often in very shallow creeks, with lots of rocks and crevices to hide. This is what I got:
