High Altitude Mixed Martial Arts
HAMMA – High Altitude Mixed Martial Arts, a new extreme sport.
News have been reported that a conflict between native mountain guides and European mountaineers on Mount Everest has turned violent, resulting in injuries of the outnumbered European climbers. The fight supposedly happened at an altitude above 7000 meters! I don’t like the idea of a bunch of cowards ganging up on others, but fighting with so little oxygen in the air is impressive!
That’s one fight I would love to see! Most people can’t even breathe, let alone box in such ultra-thin air! Imagine the play-by-play: “Mirko Sherpa in the right corner throws a slow jab and misses. He takes a deep breath, and another one. His opponent, also trying to get enough oxygen, rests bent forward with his hands on his knees. He postures up and seems to attempt to throw a left hook, but makes up his mind midway through the punch due to exhaustion …”.
Tyrolean mountaineering legend Reinhold Messner is rumored to hold the high-altitude sex record with a Polish mountaineering chick at above 6000 meters. Impressive. But this new idea of HAMMA also has all my appreciation, with my sea-level and below-sea-level existence!
