A sense of humor is a sign of dealing with the world with an adult mindset and the ability to put some distance between yourself and what’s happening around you. Not taking everything dead serious is a virtue. I like to add a dose of humor to my underwater videos. Here are three such videos where I tried that, you will have to be the judge if I succeeded…

Coffee Ad

My mate Matt runs a coffee company in Dauin, distributing quality coffee from around the Philippines. We shot an ad for his coffee, where the brew invigorates his diving beyond belief:

Goby Yawn

I like shooting gobies (and writing about them), and I caught this Amblyeleotris diagnonalis yawning – what the biological adaptive value of these yawns is unclear to me, possibly jaw stretching.  I then recorded myself yawning, stretched the sound file to make it sound like Jabba the Hutt, and put it over the footage of the goby:

Sea Cucumbers are Funny

I really enjoy encountering sea cucumbers during my dives. They just lay there, eat sand, digest what’s digestible in between the grains, and lead a very low-energy life-style otherwise. They don’t move much, so they end up laying there, right next to their sandy poop. All of that, and me swimming by, you can see in this video:
