New Underwater Videography

Recently I had some good luck in filming a variety of interesting animals & kinds of animal behavior underwater. I used both my Olympus EM-1 as well as my GoPro HERO6, for the macro and wide-angle stuff, respectively.

In this video I slowed down the footage to 1/3rd of its original speed – this also creates an eerie bass from the original sound caused by the water currents.

This is a selection of the nudibranchs I encountered lately. I hope I got all the IDs right. The EM-1’s digital zoom allows for some really hefty macro, especially seen in the close-up of the gills. The current that day was intense, and that shows in the flailing rhinopores, gills and mantle edges of these nudibranchs.

I encountered a turtle, with a large sharksucker stuck to its carpace. I don’t think the turtles like these, but they are hard to get rid of for them.

Very hard to pass up, a sea cucumber opening and closing its anus to breathe.
