Nice New Videos: Underwater

Recent weeks have seen an uptick in our video making efforts – I say we not I because my dive buddies, especially the “John Belushi of the Coral Reef” contribute a lot to the videos I post, either in front of the camera or as critter spotters.

Video number one I’d like to show you: Footage from a single muck dive in the Philippines at night – the highlight is a fire worm eating a crab. Another crab covered in tiny hydroids, two crabs fighting, a free-swimming snake eel which bumped into me, and bobtail squid hiding under the sand. Enjoy!

This video is also quite clever I believe. We try to explain what happens when fish are so small that fluid dynamics make the movement of small particles – their food – in water essentially reversible. Fluid dynamics meets humor, who else can pull that off?

Best Fishes,
