Ten Million Views

My Flickr photostream has, as of today, reached ten million (10 000 000!) views. Yeah!

What started as a nice way to occasionally share my underwater photographs with friends and family turned into a database of almost 7000 nature images, with a focus on cryptobenthic (small) reef fishes like gobies and dragonets, and small marine invertebrates like nudibranchs. I do also have a lot of other reef fishes in my portfolio, as well as sea snakes, turtles, the occasional coralscape, and once in a while photography from my travels which is not ocean-themed.

All my shots are posted as Creative Commons, non-commercial, which means that they are free to use for education, art and so on. I always enjoy hearing from folks who use my photos! For commercial books and magazines I charge a reasonable fee, and in this way quite a few of my shots from Flickr have also made it into a variety of online and print media.

I also want to thank the cool people who interact with me on Flickr, I have gotten a lot of very good IDs in this way, especially of inverts, which are not as much my strength as are fishes.

Here is the Flickr stats page with the 10 Million plus views:

This is the first photograph I ever posted on Flickr, an octopus shot in Sunabe, Okinawa, which was my go-to dive site during the 5 years when I lived in Japan:

And this is my photograph with the most individual view, more than 49000, a pygmy seahorse from Malapascua in the Philippines:

Please keep coming back and enjoying my nature photography!
